Budget session: Pranab's bid to break 2G logjam
Congress' key troubleshooter has called an all-party meet in a bid to break the logjam.

New Delhi: Two weeks before the crucial Budget session of Parliament begins, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will hold an all-party meeting in Delhi on Tuesday to break the 2G stalemate.

The Congress' key troubleshooter has called an all-party meeting today in a bid to break the logjam.

The move comes after three rounds of talks held by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Monday to build consensus proved futile.

The Opposition BJP and Left remain defiant on the issue of JPC.

The recent arrest of former Telecom minister A Raja and the findings of the Shivraj Patil Committee have only reinforced their demand for a JPC probe.

The JPC issue had marred the Winter Session and led to the longest shutdown of Parliament. The Congress can't afford a repeat of that.

Clearly, the only challenge for Pranab Mukharji today will be to present a proposal acceptable to the Opposition.
