Barabanki: Congress will get an absolute majority in 2012 Assembly polls to be held in Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister for Steel (independent charge) Beni Prasad Verma said here. "The coming 2012 UP Assembly polls will show strength of Congress, which will be getting an absolute majority," Verma said while addressing a gathering on his 71st birthday in his home town last evening.
He also lashed out at his former companion SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for promoting nepotism. "SP supremo Mulayam is practising nepotism and all the key posts in the party were there in his family," Verma alleged. Stating that it was difficult to leave Mulayam, with whom he had a 40-years-old association, Beni said he was happy that he left SP otherwise he might not be celebrating his birthday. "Had I not left SP, you would have attending condolence meeting instead of celebrating my birthday," Beni said asking the people not to make Mulayam Singh Yadav as the Chief Minister of the state again.
He alleged that the development council formed by Yadav, did nothing expect spending money on refreshments and paying bills of planes used for "importing" bollywood artists.
Taking a potshot on BSP, he said that there was a time when it was difficult to find corrupt ministers and now it was difficult to find an honest one. Claiming that the BJP was not existent in the region, Beni said that the saffron party was trying hard to make its presence felt but the people had now understood its reality.
