Cong-DMK talks to identify constituencies continue
Congress sources indicated that the present exercise will be concluded by Friday evening.

Chennai: The Congress and the DMK were on Friday confident of successfully concluding their talks on identifying the 63 seats the Congress would contest in the April 13 elections to the state assembly.

The seat-sharing panels of the two parties on Friday morning continued their talks which they left mid-way on Thursday evening at the DMK headquarters here.

The Congress panel comprises state unit chief K.V. Thangkabalu, union ministers P. Chidambaram, G.K. Vasan, parliamentarian Jayanthi Natarajan and Tamil Nadu assembly member Jayakumar.

"The talks were satisfactory and we will continue our talks in the evening," Thangkabalu told reporters here.

The DMK panel comprises Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, MP T.R. Baalu and state ministers Arcot N. Veerasamy, Duraimurugan and K. Ponmudi.

The two parties had signed the seat sharing accord on Wednesday, whereby the Congress was allotted 63 seats in the 234-member assembly after much acrimony.

Meanwhile, PMK chief S. Ramadoss called on DMK president and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi at his residence on Friday morning and held talks on identifying the 30 seats that the PMK would contest.
