New Delhi: 13th February 2014, the Lok Sabha witnessed unprecedented ugly scenes. The Hon'ble Speaker Smt Meira Kumar strongly condemns this disgraceful act of defilement of the dignity of the temple of democracy. Hon'ble Speaker expresses her shock and outrage at this incident which is a blot on India's parliamentary traditions. Hon'ble Members must maintain the highest standards of parliamentary decorum and uphold democratic values which have been assiduously nurtured all these six decades in our country.
In order to consider the events in the House on Thursday, 13th February 2014, the Hon'ble Speaker had directed that an emergency meeting of the Committee on Security in Parliament Complex should be called on Monday, 17th February 2014.
The Committee on Security in Parliament Complex headed by Hon'ble Deputy Speaker, Lok Sabha, will be examining all security related matters including the means to prevent bringing of dangerous life threatening material into the Chamber of the House by the Members of Parliament.
The pros and cons about the various security measures that should be adopted will be considered in detail by the Committee.
