Hubli: Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Monday refused to react to the arrest of former tourism minister and mining magnate Janardhana Reddy by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

"I don't want to give my reaction now because Reddy has been arrested by the CBI. I will react only after getting full details," Gowda told reporters here.

The CBI on Monday arrested former minister Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law Srinivas Reddy under the Prevention of Corruption Act after raids on their residences in the wee hours in connection with its investigation into illegal mining.

On the resignation from the Assembly of former minister B Sreeramulu, also a close aide of mining magnates Reddy brothers, Gowda said he tried "his best" to convince him against resigning. The BJP high command had also made similar efforts, he said.

The Chief Minister, however, expressed optimism about finding a solution to Sreeramulu's resignation, who handed it over to Speaker KG Bopaiah on Sunday.

What's your reaction?
