Maharashtra: BJP opposes proposed power tariff hike
The BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar said Ministers should pay their residential electricity bills from their own pockets.

Mumbai: Warning of agitation against the proposed hike in the power tariff, Maharashtra BJP on Thursday said that state Ministers should pay electricity bills of official residences from their own pockets.

"The proposed hike will be a burden on the common man and if the government does not roll it back, then BJP will launch agitation from September 3," state BJP president Sudhir Mungantiwar said.

BJP will stage protests outside tehsil offices and electricity board offices, he said.

"Ministers should pay their residential electricity bills from their own pockets," he said.

Mungantiwar alleged that due to inefficiency of power minister Ajit Pawar, the state was facing the tariff hike.

Talking about power generator failure at Chandrapur, he said low-quality coal was responsible for the same.
