New Delhi: Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Monday met leaders of different political parties, who informed her they will raise issues such as drought, floods and the country's economic troubles.
The meeting in the Parliament House complex was attended among others by the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj and the Janata Dal United's (JDU) Sharad Yadav from the Opposition.
The government was represented by Leader of House in the Lok Sabha and Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal.
Yadav, who came out midway through the meeting, told reporters that the leaders conveyed to the speaker that they may move calling attention motions on various issues during the session.
"Floods, drought, economic condition, media accountability, population explosion, farmers' suicides and land acquisition are issues we listed and informed that we may move calling attention motions," Yadav said.
