The Congress, on Friday, revealed its first list of 39 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The first list consists of the names of candidates for Southern seats including Rahul Gandhi, who will be contesting from Kerala’s Wayanad. From Karnataka, the party has named seven candidates. From Bengaluru, Congress has fielded MP DK Suresh (brother of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar) and Geetha Shivarajkumar (wife of South star Shiva Rajkumar) from Shivamogga aka Shimoga. Reportedly, Geetha Shivarajkumar has prepared well for the upcoming elections and is quite confident about winning it. Recently, at an event, she shared her excitement for preparing for elections. She revealed that a few years ago, she had contested from a different party and lost due to minor mistakes. This time, she claims she will not be defeated.
Geetha Shivarajkumar said in an interview, “Shimoga is not new to me. From the beginning, I was going to Shimoga. There are no newcomers (here), we know everyone here. I hope I win.” As per reports, she is already settled in Shimoga and owns two houses there. She will be staying with her husband, Dr Shiva Rajkumar. She revealed that she will soon have a meeting with the leaders and party workers of Congress next week. She also stated that she will be spending most of her time in Shivamogga. Dr Shiva Rajkumar, supporting his wife, said in an interview, “Whenever Geetha (will) say, I will be there. We are going to face the election, we need to believe that we will win. We are going with the same faith.”
At the event, Geetha Shivarajkumar also talked about her father, Sarekoppa Bangarappa. She said, “I have seen all the work our father has done. He became an MLA when I was two years old. He is such a man of simplicity. We grew up watching him.”
Currently, BY Raghavendra — elder son of ex-Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa — is the sitting MP of Shivamogga.
Shiva Rajkumar is the son of a renowned legend of the Kannada film industry, Dr Rajkumar. Shiva Rajkumar is also the elder brother of the late Puneeth Rajkumar. Karnataka’s State President offered the megastar to contest the elections and instead, he requested the party to give a ticket to his wife.
