Does Deepinder Goyal Order Food On Any App Outside Of Zomato? Here’s What He Said
Deepinder Goyal was asked whether he had ever ordered from competitors like Swiggy during a recent interview.

Zomato’s rise in the ever-evolving food delivery landscape is nothing short of remarkable. The last few years have seen a dramatic rise in the platform, with more and more customers relying on it for convenient food ordering methods. Now, Zomato’s founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal has opened up on how he manages the publicly listed company, discussing competition with Swiggy and other aspects. In an intriguing revelation, Goyal also shared that he has never ordered food from any platform other than Zomato.

When asked whether he had ever ordered from competitors like Swiggy or new platforms such as the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) during an interaction with Moneycontrol, Deepinder Goyal replied in negation. He said, “No, I have not ordered food outside of Zomato. Never ever. Never ordered on Swiggy, nor opened anybody else’s app.”

Deepinder Goyal’s statements come days after when Swiggy removed him as a judge of Shark Tank India, sponsoring the show by paying Rs 25 crore.

Interestingly, the rivalry between Zomato and Swiggy continues to intensify as the quick commerce sector booms, ballooning to $5.5 billion in just under four years. While the two companies faced stiff competition a few years back, Zomato has been winning the same for a while now.

Recently, the Zomato CEO also caught attention for personally delivering orders across Delhi-NCR with his wife Gia Goyal (Grecia Munoz). Sporting Zomato’s signature red T-shirts, the couple was seen completing their deliveries in Gurugram. Why? They wanted to gain a first-hand understanding of his business operations. However, what left him disheartened was that he was stopped from using an elevator in Ambience Mall where he had gone to collect an order from Haldiram’s as a delivery partner. Instead of the lift, he was asked to take the stairs to the third floor.

“During my second order, I realised that we need to work with malls more closely to improve working conditions for all delivery partners. And malls also need to be more humane to delivery partners,” wrote Goyal on X as he asked his followers on the platform, “What do you think?”

Upon Goyal’s video going viral, gaining over 2.5 million views, the Ambience Mall took a step, keeping in mind the comfort of all delivery partners, providing them a pick-up point.
