Woman Wants Divorce From Husband After Mother-In-Law 'Secretly' Used Her Makeup

A woman in Agra is seeking a divorce from her husband after an argument with her mother-in-law. The woman claimed that her mother-in-law would routinely use her make-up products without her permission. Once she complained about it and that resulted in a verbal argument between the two. Eventually, her husband stepped into the fight and took the side of his mother. The woman alleged that her husband “threw her and her sister out of the house”, following this dispute. The woman and her sister got married to two brothers in the same family about eight months ago.

However, for the past two months, they have been living in their maternal home after they were asked to leave their in-laws house. The woman, a resident of Malpura, told the Parivar Paramarsh Kendra (Family Counselling Centre) that her mother-in-law would wear her makeup inside the house despite having prior arguments in which she had asked her mother-in-law to not use her products.

Counsellor Amit Gaur told the media that the woman and her mother-in-law were called to the Parivar Paramarsh Kendra for counselling on Sunday. The couple will also be given counselling. Gaur added that the woman insisted on seeking divorce as she claimed that the issue was not just about cosmetics but the fact that her husband subjected her to domestic abuse. She claimed that he only paid heed to his mother.

Earlier this month, a family court in Bhopal attended to an unusual case when a woman sought a divorce after her husband took her on a trip to Ayodhya and Varanasi after promising that they would be going to Goa and South India as a long-awaited honeymoon trip.

The newly wedded woman said since both her husband and she earns well, they can easily afford an international tour but her husband insisted that they travel within India so he could take care of his parents. Earlier this month, he booked air tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi on the request of his mother who wanted to visit Ayodhya ahead of Ram Mandir’s opening on January 22. The woman only got to know about the trip just a day prior.

As per the Free Press Journal, the woman filed for divorce after they returned from a trip. The couple had gotten married just five months ago in August 2023. Advocate Shail Awasti who practices at Bhopal Family Court told the media that the couple was being counselled.
