Banning India's daughters
Banning India's daughters
Opposition demanded the strictest action against officials who let it happen. The government agreed to inquire and banned it immediately even going to the extent of offering to try and get it banned outside India.

Should the BBC documentary with an interview of Nirbhaya's rapist be banned?

Our parliamentarians aggressively questioned how did the film maker manage to shoot in a prison? Opposition demanded the strictest action against officials who let it happen.

The government agreed to inquire and banned it immediately even going to the extent of offering to try and get it banned outside India.

The bigger question is why do they want it banned?

The government has decided to ban the film because a large number of people fear it would resonate negatively in towns, villages and homes of India with the sick minded. Accepting we are sick but not ready to face it or fight it clearly shying away from curing it.

That the culprit is remorseless should hit us hard, this is the case that shook an entire nation to it's core. But what's even more numbing is the thought of how many people would agree with him, reflecting a diseased mind set- It's the girl's fault, she chose to be out in the evening with a male friend.

My question: Why did the parliament not address the ban on India's daughters?

Instead some of them seemed more worried about India's pride, it's reputation abroad. Meenakshi lekhi's urgent concern was the impact on tourism while Ambika Soni seemed upset over permissions to shoot to a foreign journalist.

Wake up sleepy parliamentarians this isn't about India's pride but India's shame.

Don't run from the issue by suspending a few prison officials. Tell us how have you spent Nirbhaya fund? Why is this man still alive to lobby for his life in interviews?

Why don't our politicians declare- No problem if our girls go out, date men, eat chowmein. Shouldn't the PM?

Dear PM if you want to swachh bharat of this mindset you would have to speak and tell us what your stand is.

Ban the film in India, but not India's daughters, who are banned routinely from wearing what they want, eating what they like, kissing who they fancy.

What's your reaction?
