KOCHI: The permanent Lok Adalat has asked the railways and state pollution control board to give explanation on the issue of discharging faeces from the toilets in the coaches of trains to open spaces. The Chairman of the Adalat D Papachan sought an explanation in this regard before the next sitting. It is on a complaint filed D B Binu, general secretary, Human Rights Watch that the Adalat chairman issued the order. According to the complainant, the railway has been discharging faeces to the open air. The railway budget presented last year had offered that green toilets will be introduced in railway coaches. But the Railways hasn’t taken steps in this regard. According to the advocate of Railways, more studies should be carried out on the issue before commenting on it. The next sitting of the Adalat will be on July 25.
