TUMKUR: One of the three girls Afsana Banu (16) who was allegedly sold by her mother to work as domestic help to the relatively affluent families in Bangalore was traced. She was working in the house of one Syed Jubera Abdul Mallik in Shivajinagar area in the city.Cases under the Child Labour Act were registered against Mallik.Earlier, two of her younger sisters namely Saeeda Banu (14) and Asma Banu (11) had escaped from the torture of their ‘owners’ and lived with their paternal grand mother Khairunnisa.The district administration had rehabilitated Afsana and Saeeda in the Women and Child Welfare Department’s balamandira observation home here.While Asma wished to live with her paternal grand mother only.Their two younger brothers will also be rehabilitated and will be joining them in the special schools meant for mentally challenged, informed the Dr C Somashekara.Meanwhile, their mother Shaheena surfaced and maintained as she left the children to work as domestic helps as she had no other go. The police have taken up further investigation.
