The city received 35.51 mm rainfall in the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on Thursday, Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said.

Thane city has received 228.93 mm rainfall this monsoon season so far compared to 50.70 mm in the same period last year.

Inclement Weather Claim Lives, Cause Devastation

Some incidents of fall of tree branches in the city was also reported.

A 33-year-old fireman was injured and two vehicles were damaged on Thursday after a tree fell following heavy rains in Maharashtra’s Thane city, civic officials said.

The tree fell in Savarkar Nagar at 11.35 am, crushing an auto-rickshaw and a car, Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said. Both the vehicles were unoccupied, he added.

Local fire personnel and the regional disaster management cell team members rushed to the spot for rescue and clearing work.
