Looking For A Quick Breakfast Recipe? Prepare Avalakki Rotti At Home In 10 Minutes

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So having a proper, healthy breakfast is very important. Many people these days skip it because they don’t have time to cook breakfast due to a hectic schedule. Today, we will look at one such easy breakfast recipe that is not only healthy, but also easy to make in the morning. This recipe is called Avalakki Akki Rotti aka Poha Roti. This simple breakfast recipe is made with a combination of beaten rice and rice flour. It is basically an extension of the popular akki rotti recipe from South India, with the addition of poha or beaten rice, to the same set of spice ingredients and herbs. Unlike the traditional akki rotti, which is crisp in nature, these poha roti are softer and easier to shape due to the use of thin poha with rice flour. Let’s take a look at its recipe:

Ingredients:

Aval Poha: 1 cup

Tamarind: 1/4 cup

Chopped seaweed: 2 tbsp

Onion: 1 (finely chopped)

Green chillies: 3 (chopped)

Ginger: As required (finely chopped)

Curd: 2 tablespoons

Coconut: 2 tbsp (finely chopped)

Fenugreek, coriander leaves: as required (chopped)

Cumin: 1 tbsp

Ghee: As required quantity

Salt: As needed.

Procedure:

Step 1: First, take a cup of aval, add the required amount of water, and filter it thoroughly two or three times.

Step 2: Similarly, sift the aval twice, drain the water completely, put it in a vessel, and keep it pounded for 5 minutes.

Step 3: After five minutes, when it looks soft, one should rub it well with their hands.

Step 4: Then add tamarind, gram flour, green chillies, ginger, curd, onion, coconut, curry leaves, coriander leaves, cumin, and the required amount of salt, and mix well.

Step 5: Then add the required amount of water and mix everything together.

Step 6: Now take a little of the dough and roll it into a ball.

Step 7: Make the ball slightly larger.

Step 8: Now apply oil to the banana leaf and gently pat the dough ball.

Step 9: Next, place the tawa in the oven, and when it is hot, put the beaten dough in, add some ghee, and cook until both sides are cooked well.

A healthy and tasty breakfast is ready in 10 minutes!
