Mukesh Khanna On Why He Is Unmarried At 65: 'Maybe I Haven't Found That Soul'
Mukesh Khanna said people believe that the more girlfriends you have, the more man you are.

Mukesh Khanna, a well-known actor, has never married. At 65, he recently revealed why he remained single. The actor was last seen in the 2016 serial Waris. Since then, he has been off the screen but remains very active on social media. He has a YouTube channel where he shares videos.

Many people still ask Mukesh why he did not marry. He answered this question in a video he shared. In an Instagram post, Mukesh said, “Can a Bhishma vow stop someone’s marriage? People think this happened to me. I don’t think so. I believe marriage is the union of two souls. Maybe I haven’t found that soul yet. Maybe I will meet.”

He added his thoughts on being a ‘man,’ saying, “People also believe that the more girlfriends you have, the more man you are! I don’t believe so. People also believe that the wife should have patriotism. I believe the husband should also have patriotism. But this is certain, my marriage did not stop because of a Bhishma vow.”

Mukesh Khanna gained stardom from his show Shaktimaan, which aired for about eight years. Like Ramayana and Mahabharata, Shaktimaan was re-telecast during the 2020 lockdown. The show pioneered superhero series in India, originally airing on Doordarshan in the 1990s.

Shaktimaan is now getting a reboot, with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh reportedly chosen to play the superhero. Mukesh Khanna is not happy with this choice. Khanna, who was also the producer of the original show, believes stardom alone doesn’t justify casting a star with a “certain image” for Shaktimaan. He emphasised that the superhero represents “Indian values” and should have the image of a teacher.

Mukesh Khanna also expressed his concerns on social media, saying, “Social media is flooded with rumours that Ranveer will play Shaktimaan. Everyone was angry about it. I kept quiet. As channels announced that Ranveer had been signed for the part, I had to say something. I have said that an actor with a certain image, no matter how big a star he may be, cannot become Shaktimaan. I have put my foot down. Let’s see what happens now,” he wrote on Instagram.
