New Delhi: Celebrating the 30 years of popularity of the iconic Super Mario Bros., Nintendo is officially releasing a new video game- Super Mario Maker- on its Wii U home console, which allows users to build and share new levels for the famous mustached plumber.

The new game will serve as a tribute to Mario, one of the most widely recognised video game characters ever who has contributed to Nintendo’s success around the world. The loved plumber has appeared in more than 200 video games, selling more than 262 million copies worldwide.

In 30 years, the company hasn't missed an opportunity to release multiple sequels and spinoffs of its Mario franchise, constantly upgrading the games with the release of each new gaming system.

A report on CBC notes that what makes the Super Mario Maker an odd game in the Mario lineup is that it allows players to break all of the rules longtime players have learned about Mario games.

From sound to power-ups, the game takes an entirely different form from the original version as the simple set of tools allow players to become creators and generate game levels of their choice.
